Seahawks, Patriots Among Potential Maxx Crosby Suitors?

With the new league year approaching, the future of Maxx Crosby remains a major NFL storyline. The star edge rusher is currently with the Raiders, but teams are aware of the possibility of a trade. During the latest Breer Report, Albert Breer of Sports Illustrated noted that Crosby might still be willing to continue with the Raiders, despite his preference for a single team career. Owner Mark Davis has consistently expressed a desire to keep Crosby, who has been with the team since 2019 and is a five-time Pro Bowler.
Breer highlights the strong relationship between Crosby and Davis, and the positive initial encounter between Crosby and new head coach Klint Kubiak. Since then, Kubiak promoted Rob Leonard to defensive coordinator, a familiar face for Crosby. This could influence Crosby's stance and the team's willingness to accept a blockbuster trade price.
Any NFL team would benefit from Crosby's presence. Breer mentions the Seahawks and Patriots as interested parties, though the list of potential suitors is extensive. Both Seattle and New England have strong projected 2026 cap space. However, both teams could see changes along the edge this offseason.
Boye Mafe's Seahawks rookie contract expires in March, and he's not a priority for the Super Bowl-winning roster. K'Lavon Chaisson, a pending free agent, thrived in his debut New England campaign, posting a career-high 7.5 sacks during the regular season and adding three more in the playoffs. At 26, Chaisson is set to cash in during free agency.
If Seattle and/or New England lose these pass rushers, Crosby becomes an even more attractive acquisition. Both teams have first-round picks, though the Patriots have 11 total selections in the 2025 draft compared to the Seahawks' four. The Super Bowl participants' potential pursuit of Crosby will be a key development in the coming weeks.
