WrestleMania 42 Match Plans: What's Still Unconfirmed? (2026)

WrestleMania 42 Match Plans Remain Uncertain

As excitement builds around WrestleMania 42, which many fans anticipate to be a spectacular event, recent insider information reveals that the reality may not be as solidified as previously thought.

According to a report from Fightful Select, WWE insiders have indicated that numerous matches touted as "original plans" for WrestleMania have yet to be officially presented, meaning that a significant portion of the card remains under active discussion. This revelation shifts the narrative away from earlier claims suggesting that several high-profile bouts were already finalized for the Las Vegas event.

A WWE source mentioned, "We were informed that quite a few of the supposed 'original plans' for WrestleMania have not actually been submitted yet, and much of the WrestleMania lineup is still being deliberated upon."

This update directly contradicts recent reports that hinted at key matchups, such as Seth Rollins taking on Bron Breakker, and Becky Lynch battling AJ Lee for the Women’s Intercontinental Championship. There were also discussions about heavyweight encounters featuring Brock Lesnar alongside Oba Femi. However, as it stands, only one matchup has received official confirmation: CM Punk will defend the WWE World Heavyweight Championship against Roman Reigns at WrestleMania 42. Everything else—despite being heavily hinted at or circulated in reports—remains flexible and open to change.

This includes anticipated returns, such as that of Seth Rollins from his shoulder injury, AJ Lee’s long-awaited solo performance, and Brock Lesnar's status post his impactful appearance at the Royal Rumble. None of these bouts have received formal approval, even though there has been internal speculation and creative direction hinting at their likelihood.

With WrestleMania 42 scheduled for April 18 and 19 at Allegiant Stadium, there is still time for WWE to finalize the card. Yet, this latest update clearly indicates that a large portion of the match lineup is still very much uncertain.

What are your thoughts? Is WWE's strategy of keeping so many aspects of WrestleMania 42 undecided this close to the event a clever approach to long-term storytelling, or does it risk disappointing fans with unmet expectations? We’d love to hear your views—feel free to share your opinions in the comments!
